Nice night, still learning

Well this evening, I actually took my laptop out with the telescope and hooked it up to the camera. That way, I could take pictures, look at them and then adjust my settings (such as focus, which has been a big issue for me). The results were definitely better, though I really don’t have anything to share tonight – I’ll probably need to do some processing tomorrow and see if I can get a decent image from the 100 or so shots I took. Tomorrow (I hope), the remote trigger for the camera and the laser collimator should get here which I expect should improve my picture taking somewhat. I’m hoping that aligning everything in the scope will help, since I’m sure it’s not even close to correct right now, will help me get things in better focus and that by having the remote trigger for the camera I’ll be able to take really long duration exposures. Anyway, even if they don’t arrive tomorrow, they should be here this week and I’ll let you know how it goes.

Okay, one quick Jupiter pic (composited between a lower exposure of Jupiter and a higher exposure including the moons):

Jupiter and 3 moons (anyone know what the far right “moon” actually is?)

  1. wordpress is still acting up – going to a dead link page. I think I’d switch to Flickr.

  2. Okay, I give up – I’ve moved my photos to Flickr. I’ll need to redirect the other ones later. Thanks for being persistent, Dave.
