I bought some meteorites!

3 Meteorites

Tonight at the Barnard Astronomical Society meeting, as a sort of fund-raiser, they sold off some small meteorites and I bought 3 of them. They were found in northwest Africa and are believed to be EL3 type. The largest of the 3 is 74.3g in weight and contains quite a lot of metal (iron and nickel, I believe). They all react to magnets, which is what indicates their high metal content. It was really a fun meeting and I’m looking forward to stargazing tomorrow night with them at a star party.
