A fantastic night

Filed under: Observation Journal — Ed @ 4:52 am

After spending 3 hours just trying to get my equipment working properly, I had a wonderful night. I’ve got a bunch of images to process in the morning. I saw a fantastic bolide (meteor) – no image, of course. I did get a bunch of good shots of the Pleiades, the Whirlpool Galaxy, the Sombrero Galaxy and Comet Lulin. I could barely make out the comet with the naked eye using averted vision. It’s clear in binoculars and quite large in the telescope. I’ll post pictures tomorrow. Right now, I need to get some sleep.
