M104-Sombrero Galaxy on 4/16/09

Tonight, Paul, from the Barnard Astronomical Society (my local astronomy club), came over to see how I observe from my driveway. It was fun to have someone else so interested in astronomy to talk to while observing and I showed him how i used my equipment and we used his Celestron solar system imager to take a nice shot of Saturn. I used my DSI to take some deep sky shots, illustrating how I stack and other things. I also added to my images of M104, which is a really neat target that my images have generally been so-so of. Tonight I wound up with a number of good sub-images and when adding them, I think I’m starting to see some detail in the dust lane of the galaxy – I think if I can add maybe 40-50 more minutes, this will be one of my best images.
