Supermoon! (actually tomorrow) on 3/18/11

Filed under: astronomy, Astrophotography, Moon, Observation Journal — Ed @ 11:03 pm

I finally have been out with my new setup (well, new laptop and some connection stuff) and it seems to be working well. Of course we’ve got the SUPERMOON out tonight (99% full – technically tomorrow is the full moon)! The SUPERMOON® is actually just a term referring to when the Moon is larger than normal. In this case about 14%, I believe, not enough to make a big difference. It was pretty though, and I’m happy with this picture. Not as happy as I am to be observing again, however…

Also, I have a quick M42 I did tonight that I may upload later if it turns out okay. There was so much skyglow from the Moon, though…

  2. Hey Ed,

Glad to see you’re back out with your telescope! I am hoping to finally get back out there tonight with mine here in Eastern Ontario. I have been watching your blog since I got my telescope last Fall and love seeing your posts. I hope to have a nice setup like yours one day. Tell us more about your “new laptop and connection stuff”! :^)

  3. Yeah – we’ve either had bad weather or I’ve been busy. I think it’s the longest dought without observing in about 3 years for me. I’ve recently replaced my laptop and also wound up replacing my USB hub and some other connections that I have attached to my scope buggy. I need to do a post on my setup sometime.
